GOD FORSAKEN: Electric Release -mcd-

I just recently got this CD and thought I got myself death/doom demo, but it turns out that God Forsaken have slowly transformed into a stonerrock-ish band. Doomer Rock is what they called it. The mcd has three songs which all kicks ass, buzzy guitars and pretty old school overall sounds. There are clear 70's vibes throughout the whole CD-R, especially during the solos halfway through "The Pillar". I'm having trouble pinpointing the influences, but I would say a bit of C.O.C. from few CD's back or some Roadsaw style going. Thats not the whole truth though. The band list Black Sabbath, Unida and Fu Manchu as their influences...

According to the bio this band has quite a history. They started under the name Putrid and played doom tinged Death Metal. They even toured with Anathema in ’94! But since then they have changed from death metal to what they call Doomer Rock and what the rest of the world calls Stoner Rock. On this single they play 3 upbeat rock songs that remind me of old Acrimony and Cathedral but slightly faster than these two. The vocals really are the only downside to the songs since they don’t sound as groovy and raw as the rest. Not bad but nothing special either.

The musical style they play now has changed enormsly during their existence. Started as death metal they transformed to doom and now they are more like a doom stoner rock band influences from Black Sabbath (guitarlead in track 2!) to Fu Manchu. Three songs with dirty heavy guitarriffs and clean vocals. The songs don't set the world afire but are easy listenable and even sing a long choruslines.
